Cheque Presentation for Kawanis Music Festival

Lions Memorial Forest Pathways Project

Lion Henry Czarnota, on behalf of the Olds Lions Club, submitted an application for a grant to have the walkways in the Lions Memorial Forest paved in concrete. The Mountain View Power Grant Committee selected this project for the 2024 grant. The grant given was for $15,000.00. The paved pathways will benefit the many family members who visit the Memorial Forest and the columbaria area. The cheque was presented by Mayor Judy Dahl to Lion Henry Czarnota, Lion Patrick Reed (Secretary),and Lion George Schwieger (President). Dec. 11,2024

Westeel Ltd. Donation

Kelly Allen presents a donation of $1500.00 from Westeel Ltd. to Lion Marty Konsmo towards the Henry Sonnenberg's Memorial Christmas Dinner. The dinner is hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 165 and the Olds Lions club on the afternoon of December 25 at the Olds Legion Hall. Dec. 07, 2021

Olds Lions Club BBQ

President Lion Jessica Lee and Lion Paul Bristow organized a BBQ for members of the Olds Lions Club to get together in person for the first time in approximately 18 months. A number of members and their signifcant others attend the BBQ held at the OR Hedges Lions Campground in Olds. July 23, 2021

Signage Upgraded

The Olds Lions Club would like to thank Olds Sign Shop for the donation of the lettering on the sign for the RV Sani-Station. The Olds Lions Project RV Sani-Station is located near the west end of Olds, north of Hwy 27, behind the Olds UFA Cardlock Service Station.

Slippers for Ronald MacDonald House

A request was made from the Red Deer Ronald MacDonald House for some nitted slippers for parents staying at the home. The Olds Lions Club donated the cost the yarn for the nitting. Three ladies, Gwena Mabbott, Mary Ann Rupert and Beth Moritz, volunteered and made 39 pairs of slippers and they were donated to the House on Feb. 19/21. Thank you ladies. Feb. 21/21

Mitts & Toques Presentation

Lion Fay Hagerty and President Lion Bob Ellingson presented to Margo Nygard and Deb Becker of the Olds Elementary School almost $500.00 worth of mittens and toques. For those children who are in need of them. Lion Fay was instrumental in making this donation happen. Jan. 11, 2021

Olds Lions Club Virtual Meetings

In response to the COVID-19 restrictions and social distancing the Olds Lions Club has initiated the us of Zoom software to allow members to attend meeting by virtual connections. As shown in this photo this is a combined in-person and virtual meeting using a donated 60" TV. As not every member is computer literate we have provided the option of attending in-person with social distancing. The club could, if required conduct virtual only meetings. Nov. 17, 2020

Olds Fashioned Christmas

President Bob Ellingson presented Carol Rauw of the Olds Fashioned Christmas a cheque for $2,000.00 for their 2020 Christmas program. Olds Fashioned Christmas is a community, culture, and recreational event held in November and December each year. Nov. 18, 2020

President Lion Bob Ellingson presents Treasurer Lindsey Zimmerman of the Olds & District Christmas Angel's Society with a donation of $1500.00 for their 2020 Christmas program.The Olds and District Christmas Angels Society provides food and toys during the Christmas season to less fortunate families and individuals living in Olds & surrounding area. Henry's Christmas Dinner 2019

On December 25th, an annual event of providing a Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day to anyone in the Town of Olds who did not have a place to go for dinner. This annual event is continued as a joint project in on honour of Henry Sonnenberg by the Olds Lions Club and the Olds Royal Canadian Legion Branch #105. This year there were about 370 meals were served, most at the Legion but a number delivered to those unable to travel. Donations of food and funds by local businesses and individuals makes the event possible. As well this year a number of toys and teddy bears were donated and handed out to any of the children that attended with their parents.

The annual Olds Lions Pick-Up-Garbage Day was held on Friday May 1oth. An day of cleaning up garbage in the Town of Olds. Members of the Olds Lions Club, all of the local schools, some businesses and various citizens participated in the cleanup. May 10, 2019

Henry's Memorial Christmas Dinner

On December 25 the annual Henry Sonnenber Memorial Christmas Dinner was hosted by the Old Lions Club and the Olds Royal Canadian Legion. The dinner is open to anyone who wishes to attend. A thank you was posted in the local newspaper thanking all the volunteers and the individuals and companies who donated to enable this special event to take place. Feb. 27, 2019

Henry's Christmas Dinner

As well this year a number of toys and teddy bears were donated and handed out to any of the children that attended with their parents.

Anyone can come to the dinner, there is no charge but donations are greatfully accepted. Any money left after expenses is tradionally donated to the Mountain View District Food Bank. Dec. 25, 2018

Lions Memorial Forest

Lion Henry Czarnota of the Olds Lions Club received a Certificate of Appreciation from Lions International for his work on the development of the Lions Memorial Forest at the Olds Cemetary. Trees in the forest will be for a memorial tribute to any deceased Lions of Alberta. The presentation was made at the District C-2 Convention in Calgary. Oct. 21/18

2nd Vice District Governor Dustin Southgate of Lions District C-2 made a visitation to the Olds Lions Club. He spoke to what is happening within the district and Lions Clubs International.
